Our HPV Vaccination service is for both men and women. The HPV vaccination helps to protect against genital warts, cervical cancer and some other types of cancer.
HPV infects four out of five, or 80%, of sexually active men and women at some point in their lives. As a result, it is important to vaccinate yourself against it.
There’s over 100 variations
It is a common virus that has over 100 types. Most of these are harmless; your immune system will be able to fight it off in most cases. However, if an HPV infection persists it can sometimes lead to certain types of cancer, as well as genital warts. HPV can be spread through any skin-to-skin contact in the genital area, as well as sharing sex toys.
It can also be spread through vaginal, anal or oral sex; it does not need to be penetrative sex.
An HPV vaccination offers the most effective protection against the virus. The vaccine should be administered before becoming sexually active in order to be the most effective. This is because you will not yet have come into contact with the virus. However, you will still benefit from getting vaccinated if you are already sexually active.
The vaccine will help to protect you against future HPV infections.
The HPV vaccination will not prevent the possible development of disease if you are already infected. Moreover, it will not have any effect on active infections, as well as on previous ones.
