All rabies vaccinations are inactivated, so it’s not possible for the rabies vaccination to cause rabies.
The rabies vaccine may cause mild symptoms such as:
- Body pain
- Discomfort at the injection site
If you are bitten by an animal that may be infected with rabies, get the rabies vaccination immediately to prevent symptoms from developing – otherwise, it could be fatal.
There is no specific treatment once rabies develops, the only form of treatment is to manage and ease the rabies symptoms.
