Japanese encephalitis is a viral infection which occurs in the brain transmitted to humans by mosquitoes in parts of Asia and the Pacific Rim. The mosquitoes that transmit JE feed predominantly during the night, between dusk and dawn they are prolific in rural areas, especially where rice cultivation and pig farms are nearby, they are becoming more common in urban areas.

Hepatitis A is an infection the liver caused through exposure to contaminated water or faecal matter by oral means, it is often spread through shellfish, ice always drink from bottled water. Vaccination against Hepatitis A is offered to people who are eligible. Minimise exposure by drinking bottled water abroad and not having ice; You can get hepatitis A from: eating food prepared by someone with the infection who has not washed their hands properly, or who's washed them in water contaminated.

Rabies
Rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms appear. Rabies is present on all continents, except Antarctica, however the majority (95%) of human deaths occur in Asia and African regions where it is most prevalent. Areas with high levels of infection include countries with poor sanitary conditions and hygiene practices. These areas include: the Indian subcontinent, Sub-Saharan and North Africa, parts of the Far East, South and Central America, and the Middle East.
